Bruce T. Verstegen

Mr. Bruce T. Verstegen, 77, of Greenbackville, departed this life Saturday, March 19, 2022, at his residence.

Born in Green Bay, Wis., he was the beloved son of the late Thomas and Esther Verstegen.

Bruce was educated in the Berlin Area School District and graduated from Berlin High School. Upon graduation, he attended the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh, Wis. In later years, Bruce entered the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country until he retired as a staff sergeant specialist. He was a proud Vietnam veteran. Bruce worked as a computer technician for many years. He began his career at Bell Labs and later AT&T, and lastly Tyco until his retirement.

Bruce was passionate about community service. He was a captain of Tinton Falls Emergency Management Services North, and was captain, president, and founding member of Tinton Falls Emergency Management Services South. Bruce was also an EMT, CPR instructor, and New Jersey State Police Emergency Management volunteer. He was also a member of the 16th District First Aid Council, C.E.R.T., and the Pocomoke Elks.

Memorial services were held Saturday, March 26, 2022, at St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church in Pocomoke City, Md., with the Rev. Stephanie Clayville officiating.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife of 55 years, Carol; daughters, Michelle, Deborah, and Jennifer; grandchildren, Lauren and Alex; siblings, Brian and Cathy; lifelong friends, Leigh and Patricia Coan; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Arrangements are by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
