Yellow Jackets Pick Up Ninth Straight Victory Against the Ponies

The Eastern Shore District leader, Northampton, traveled to Chincoteague on Tuesday to take on The Chincoteague Ponies. 

Northampton came out dominating the floor on offense and defense. The Yellow Jackets successfully spread the ball around, opening up opportunities for multiple 3-pointers by Jaylen Anderson, Ronrico Bugg, and Mekhi Spady. At the half, Northampton led with a score of 35-23. 

In the third quarter, Chincoteague’s Jake Harper had the hot hand for the Ponies recording 10 points, but the team was unable to stop the Yellow Jackets from scoring. Landon King went on to add 9 in the fourth quarter for Chincoteague but Northampton had extended its lead out of reach, 71-61. The Yellow Jackets improved the team’s season record to 10-4, winning 9 straight. 

Chincoteague was led by King on offense with a game-high 18 points followed by Harper with 17. Northampton’s leading scorer Spady recorded 16 points on the night while teammate Bugg added 15. Northampton is set to compete against Nandua Thursday, Feb. 10 while Chincoteague takes on Arcadia Feb. 10 and 11.
