The Chincoteague Ponies squared off against the Northampton Yellow Jackets Tuesday, Feb. 8, in “The Pony Pen.” Chincoteague came into the game looking for another win to add to its undefeated district season.

The Ponies started out hot on both sides of the ball with an 11-0 lead in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Northampton was able to record points with Aliyah Williams knocking down two 3-pointers. Chincoteague continued to stay hot on offense as senior Emma Jackson recorded 8 points in the quarter giving the Ponies a 23- 10 lead at half.

In the second half Northampton applied pressure on defense to challenge Chincoteague offensive play. The Lady Yellow Jackets were successful holding the Ponies to only 5 points in the third quarter. Northampton continued to fight through the fourth quarter, but Chincoteague’s offense started up again. With 59 seconds left in the game, Northampton’s Jayden Jenkins nailed a jumpshot and 3-pointer bringing the score to 37-24.
