Mrs. Betty Diane Wessells Beauchamp, 82, of Onancock, passed away peacefully at Shore Health and Rehabilitation Center in Parksley, Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022.

Diane, as she was known to her family and friends, served the Shore as a nurse for over 50 years, first at the NAM Hospital in Nassawadox, where she specialized in labor and delivery and ultimately became a charge nurse. She was also a visiting nurse for Intrepid Health Care for a period of time and rounded out her career at the Hermitage on the Eastern Shore, now known as Commonwealth Senior Living in Onancock. Diane was a member of Drummondtown United Methodist Church in Accomac and sang in the choir for several years. Of her many gifts, Diane was an especially talented artist, musician, and gardener.

Born near Parksley Sept. 21, 1939, Diane was the daughter of the late Brantley Jackson Wessells and the late Christine Lewis Wessells. She attended Parksley High School and later graduated with honors from NAM Nursing School in Nassawadox.

Diane was a devoted wife to Fitzhugh Gerald Beauchamp, and celebrated 47 years of matrimony prior to his passing in 2002.

Diane is survived by her son, Christopher Gerald Beauchamp, and his wife, Lora, of Onley; daughter, Sherry Beauchamp Williamson, and her husband, Kent, of Accomac; brother, Robert L. Wessells, of Onley; sister, Lynn Wessells Huether, of Quinby; granddaughter, Christina Beauchamp Nicoll, and her husband, Scott; grandson, Ross Andrew Williamson; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and three special individuals who will forever refer to her as “Memom.”

A service in celebration of Diane’s life will be held at the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022, at 3 p.m.
