Mrs. Carolyn Ann Powell, 76, of Salisbury, Md., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2022. Born July 1, 1945, in Nassawadox, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Marjorie Williams.
She graduated from Onancock High School and later Delmarva Beauty Academy.
Professionally, Carolyn was a beautician in her early years at Pine Bluff Village and other salons in Salisbury. She later served as a nursing assistant for 30-plus years with Genesis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury.
Carolyn was a member of the Salisbury Moose Lodge 654 and the Eagles. She loved dancing to George Jones and Conway Twitty with her husband. They were usually found every other weekend dancing at various Moose Lodges around the Delmarva Peninsula. She had a love for Longaberger baskets and had a green thumb, always tending to her garden and flowers around the home.
Carolyn is survived by her two children, Lisa Starr Bowden (Tommy), of Sharptown, Md., and Charles Robert “Chuck” Powell III (Jennifer), of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Megan Palmeri (Cory), Brooks Bowden (Sarah), Chase Bowden (Hailee), Taylor Powell, and Amelia Powell; three great-grandchildren, Adam Palmeri, Ashlin Palmeri, and Luca Palmeri; sister, Joyce Stevens; brother, Dickie Williams; and aunt, Evelyn Roberts.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Charles Robert “C.R.” Powell Jr.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Williams; and brother-in-law, Elic Stevens.
A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at 1 p.m., at Holloway Funeral Home, 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. Interment took place immediately following at Shad Point Cemetery.
