Mrs. Joyce A. Foster, 86, of Hacksneck, formerly of Bloomsbury, N.J., passed from life to life everlasting on Nov. 10, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, and two brothers, Ed and Arthur. She is survived by their three children and spouses, Jeff and Lisa, of Danville, Pa., Karen and Craig Hart, of Saylorsburg, Pa., and John and Beth, of Pompton Plains, N.J. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Dorothy O’Dell, of Illinois; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Ben, Paige, Emily, Abby, Rebecca, Jacob, and David; and two great-granddaughters, Kellie and Skylar.

Born and raised in East St. Louis, Ill., she attended nursing schools at Barnes-Jewish Hospital (St. Louis) and then later in life at St. Joseph of Maine. She worked the majority of her time at Warren Hospital (now St. Luke’s) in Phillipsburg, N.J. George and Joyce retired in 1999 and moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where they continued to operate the Mason Beach Fruit Farm until it closed in 2017.

Joyce loved her pets and enjoyed gardening, bird watching, feeding her hummingbirds, and supporting donkey rescue organizations. She was a member of Powelton Presbyterian Church.

A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, at 11 a.m., at Powelton Presbyterian Church with the Rev. William Bill Moore officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone wishing to donate in memory of Joyce, to do so at the donor’s choice to: Eastern Shore SPCA, P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418; Powelton Presbyterian Church, 25 Main St., Wachapreague, VA 23480; or a local SPCA of your choice.

The family would like to thank the hospital and hospice staff at the Riverside Memorial Hospital.
