Mr. George “Jim” William Turner Sr., 81, of Hallwood, husband of Dottie Poulson Turner, passed away Nov. 19, 2021.

Born Feb. 7, 1940, in Baltimore, he was the son of the late Edwin and Ellen Turner. Jim worked as a general contractor for many years. He enjoyed bingo, playing slots, playing cards, and traveling on cruises. Above all, he loved his family dearly and would do anything to help anyone.

Jim is survived by his wife, Dottie; a son, George “Little Jim” Turner Jr. (Susan); two daughters, Vickie Sewell (Charles) and Joyce Ross (Jerre); a son, Richie Burford (Linda); a daughter, Connie Burford; a brother, Sonny Turner; a son-in-law, Ronnie Taylor; grandchildren, Brandy Turner, Bobby Turner, Joey Sewell, Brett Sewell, Josh Doberly, Shannon Doberly, Kyle Burford, Victoria Burford, Ashley Padgett (Matt), Lauren Taylor, Ryan Taylor (Aaleah), Coleby Burford, and Caleb Burford; great-grandchildren, Cameron Ziegler, Jayla, Caiden, and Damien Link, Ellie and Austin Turner, Tyler and Hailey Padgett, and Philip, Hagen, Harley, Everly, and Eli; a beloved nephew, Allen Wysong (Donna); and nieces, Barbara Corley and Robin Compton.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tessie Taylor; a sister, Irene Wysong; and a grandson, Coty Kohutek.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, Nov. 28, 2021, at 2 p.m., from the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley, with the Rev. Kevin Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in the Parksley Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Thornton Funeral Home, P.O. Box 264, Parksley, VA 23421, to assist with funeral expenses.

Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
