The Rev. Bertha Ames Lloyd, 89, of Cape Charles, departed this life Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2021, in Richmond.
She was the last living child of William and Roxana Ames. Her parents and her siblings preceded her in death. Also, her husband, Ernest C. Lloyd Sr., and son, Ernest C. Lloyd Jr., preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories: three daughters, Senora Scipio-Lewis (Daniel), Smantra Vaughan (Stephen), and Monte Mercer; two sons, George W. Lloyd (Antoinette) and Ret. Maj. Willie Lloyd; daughter-in-law, Shurine Lloyd; one ex-son-in-law, Ret. Gunnery Sgt. Michael Mercer; and a host of grandchildren, great-children, nieces, nephews, special colleagues, and friends in Christ.
Graveside services will be Saturday, Nov. 27, at 1 p.m., at Ebenezer AME Capeville Church, 27055 Cheapside Road, Cape Charles, with the Rev. Olivia D. Collins officiating. Repast will follow immediately at Bayview Heritage Gardens in the red barn, 22827 Bayview Circle, Cape Charles. Please wear a mask and no alcoholic beverages.
