Mrs. Mattie J. Johnson, of Parksley departed this life Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock,.
Born in Eastman, Ga., Mattie was the beloved daughter of the late Willie James and the late Tressie M. Searles. She was affectionately known as “Pearl” by her family and friends. She was a dedicated employee at Tyson Foods for many years until her retirement. She was married to Wilbert Johnson.
Private graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at Wharton Cemetery, Parksley, with the Rev. Quintavion Washington officiating.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her husband, Wilbert Johnson; one son, David Ward; three daughters, Brenda James, Ineta Ward, and April Graham; a niece that she raised as her own, Yvonne Haggins; three sisters, Mary Rayfield, Mae Harmon, and Elizabeth Searles; two brothers, Johnnie Searles and Henry Searles; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; special niece, Betty Searles; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
