Mr. Mitchel Green, of Onley, formerly of Temperanceville, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, at the age of 91. Born Sept. 10, 1929, in Gardner, Fla., he was one of nine children, raised lovingly by the late Jesse James Green and the late Mildred Ford Green.

Following high school, Mitchel enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to serve at the Chincoteague Naval Auxiliary Air Station. As fate would have it, he met Miss Winnie Taylor during his service, and they began their lives as husband and wife. Upon honorable discharge, Mitchel began working for Birds Eye, in Pocomoke City, Md., while also owning and operating a radio and TV repair shop. His interest in electronics led him to accept a NASA apprenticeship through the University of Virginia, later transferring to NOAA, where he retired as a computer specialist and digital expert in 1990. He was a longtime member of the Assawoman United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of Pocomoke City Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. #1624, member of the Eastern Shore Yacht & Country Club, and a charter member of the former Nassawango Country Club.

Mitchel is survived by the love of his life, Winnie Taylor Green, with whom he has shared nearly 70 years of beautiful memories; their sons, Michael Green and his wife, Darlene, of Fredericksburg, Va., Gary Green and his wife, Judy, of Salisbury, Md., and Drew Green and his wife, Susan, of Stockton, Md.; sisters, Lorine Dees, Iris Gilliard, Lillie Crane, Linda (Ronald) Perkins, and Sue Birge, all of Florida; grandchildren, Christopher Green (Angela), Beth Dang (Donny), David Green (Stacey), Roger Hall (Summer), Jennifer Wolfe (Shawn), Brandon Green (Brandy), Taylor Green (Valerie), and Kevin Green (Krystle); and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, William and James Green, and his sister, Laura Fox.

A life defined by unwavering commitment to God, country, family, and community, Mitchel was a true patriarch who will be greatly missed and forever remembered.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the John W. Taylor Memorial Cemetery in Temperanceville, on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating.
