Mrs. Rita A. Horvath, 86, passed away on Nov. 22, 2020, at the Commonwealth Senior Living Center at the Eastern Shore in Onancock. She was the daughter of the late Estelle and Irving Merlob. Rita was born in New York, N.Y., on Nov. 7, 1934.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Horvath, the love of her life, whom she married in 1954; and an infant son, Steven. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert and Arnold Merlob. She is survived by her three children, Mark Horvath, Kim Bahns and her husband, Randy, and Barry Horvath and his wife, Robin; her granddaughter, Megan Horvath, who she adored; and her two step-granddaughters, Natalie and Nora Bahns.

Rita was a stay-at-home mom until they moved to New Jersey in 1978. She then went to work at the Bank of Cranberry in Cranberry, N.J., until it was bought out by PNC Bank, at which time she transferred to PNC Bank in West Orange, N.J., until she retired.

A visitation was held at the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020, followed by a luncheon at Mallard’s on the Wharf. Rita was laid to rest beside her beloved Harold at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J.
