On Oct. 17, 2020, after a hard-fought battle with cancer, Scott D. Howard, 67, of Chincoteague Island, went home to be with the Lord.
He was born July 28, 1953, on Chincoteague Island, to Mitchell Howard Sr. and Faye (Birch) Irwin, both now deceased. He was proud of the fact that it was Pony Penning Day and it made him a real islander.
He was a member of the United States Coast Guard and American Legion Post #159. He owned and operated Scott D. Howard Construction for over 32 years before changing career paths. He then was a delivery driver for Lankford Sysco in Pocomoke City, Md.
Scott is survived by his loving spouse of 49 years, Rosemary Howard; son, H.M. Howard; daughter, Anita LeMay; four grandchildren, Stevie Ray, Melissa, River, and Rider; two sisters, Beverly Jester and Shelby Howard; two brothers, Mitchell Howard Jr. and Rocky Howard; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He loved all his family and was always there when they needed him.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 19, 2020, 2 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague Island, VA , with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating.
Burial will take place in the Daisey Cemetery Ridge Road on Chincoteague Island.
