Man in Critical Condition After Shots Fired at Large Gathering

A man is in critical condition after suffering multiple gunshot wounds early Sunday at a large gathering in Painter.
The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office around 12:09 a.m. Sunday received a report of shots fired on Shell Bridge Road, according to Sheriff Todd Godwin.
The victim, who the Sheriff’s Office did not identify, was transported to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital by the Accomack County Department of Public Safety. He subsequently was flown to Peninsula Regional Medical Center by Maryland police helicopter and later was transferred to the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md., where he currently is listed in critical but stable condition, according to Wessells.
The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, Exmore Police Department, Virginia State Police, Onley Police Department, and the Onancock Police Department.
