Mr. William Frederick “Fred” Doughty Jr., 66, a resident of Cheriton, went to be with his beloved Lord and Savior Monday, July 15, 2019, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital following a battle with cancer. He was born July 15, 1953, to the late William F. “Bill” Doughty Sr. and the late Doris Carpenter Doughty. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Martha “Sue” Taylor.
He leaves behind his three daughters, Brenda Jenkins and her husband, Eric, Kimberly Doughty, and Laurie Collins and her husband, David; seven grandchildren, Erica Arizmendi, Allyssa Marshall, Trinity Marshall, Charles Doughty, Alexis Schwab, Anna Collins, and Kaylee Collins; six great-grandchildren, Zayne, Chandler, Romeo, Airiella, Reign, and Nicolas; uncle, Kenneth Carpenter; aunt, Kitty Bagwell; niece, Leigh Campbell; numerous cousins; and his loyal friend of many years, Chris Bannon.
Mr. Doughty was passionate about his work and took great pride in his trade as a painter and handyman for over 31 years. He was valued by his customers for his craftsmanship. Besides his work, Mr. Doughty enjoyed reading the Scripture, cooking, gardening, studying history, and camping.
A celebration of Mr. Doughty’s life and prayer service will be held Friday, July 19, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Doughty Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Carpenter and Father J. Michael Breslin officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a church of one’s choice.
