Mr. George Oliver Bunting Jr.

Mr. George Oliver Bunting Jr., 72, of Saxis, died on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.  Born April 30, 1946, in Salisbury, Md., he was the son of the late George and the late Eleanor Reid Bunting.

Following graduation from Pocomoke High School in 1964, he joined the U.S. Army, where he served for three years, two of which were in Vietnam. Mr. Bunting worked briefly at Eastern Stainless Steel before joining Peoples Life Insurance as an agent. Following his retirement, he worked at Lowe’s in Pocomoke, where he enjoyed helping customers who quickly became his friends. Failing health caused him to retire once again. He loved to travel and collect model trains.

Mr. Bunting is survived by his brother, Marvin N. Bunting and his wife, Judy, of Pocomoke City, Md.; one sister-in-law, Doris Watkinson, of Saxis; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Williams Bunting; one son, Rodney D. Bunting, and one stepdaughter, Patty Stephens. 

A graveside funeral service was held on Sunday, April 7, at 2 p.m., at Downing’s United Methodist Cemetery, 7261 Lankford Hwy., Oak Hall, VA 23416. Rev. Wayne Hill officiated.
