Three Northampton County men were arrested in Maryland last week after a traffic stop yielded a loaded rifle, according to a state police report.
Two Maryland troopers pulled over a car because it had inoperable brake and license plate lights. The incident occurred during about 1 a.m., Jan. 10, in Wicomico County, Md.
The officers were routinely patrolling the area of Main Street and Snow Hill Road when the vehicle was observed, the police report stated. The car was stopped on North Salisbury Boulevard. The troopers saw the barrel of a semiautomatic rifle beneath a sweatshirt in the back seat. “An additional rifle was observed along the rear passenger floorboard,” the report continued.
The driver, Keondrae Tyrice Finney, 26, of Exmore, was not wearing a seatbelt. Finney was charged with multiple traffic violations.
Detravius Breon Upshur, 25, of Machipongo, who was in the backseat of the vehicle, was charged with possession of a rifle and ammunition. He has been convicted of felonies in Northampton County and is not permitted to possess firearms.
The front seat passenger, Jacorey Kevin Harmon, 23, of Exmore, was issued a citation for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, which was not identified.
“Additional charges are pending further investigation,” police reported.
