Mrs. Lou Ann Ashby Steffey, 84, devoted wife of the late Richard Gerald “Jerry” Steffey Sr., passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at Hermitage on the Eastern Shore in Onancock. A native of Exmore, she was the daughter of the late Samuel C. Ashby and the late Genevieve Startt Ashby. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College.
Mr. and Mrs. Steffey were steadfast in wanting the best for their children in every phase of life. Mrs. Steffey is survived by four children, Pamela Dawn Bush and her husband, Tom, of Maryville, Tenn.; Beverly Ashby Steffey, of Durham, N.C.; Richard Gerald Steffey Jr. and his wife, Sibhaluck, of Spearfish, S.D.; and Brian James Steffey and his wife, Shelly, of Gastonia, N.C. She is also survived by six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mrs. Steffey was predeceased by two brothers, Samuel C. Ashby Jr. and Owen Startt Ashby.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Doughty Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Fletcher officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
