Mrs. Ethel Ada Parker Thornes, 87, wife of the late Dennis Franklin Thornes Jr. and a resident of Birdsnest, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital in Onancock. A native of Oyster, she was the daughter of the late Willie H. Parker and the late Martha M. Marshall Parker.

She is survived by four children, Mike Thornes and his wife, Patty, of Birdsnest, Jeff Thornes and his wife, Pam, of Eastville, Dennis Thornes and his wife, Tammy, of Cape Charles, and Jennifer Moore and her fiancé, David Sloan, of Cape Charles; three sisters, Sylvia Nash, of Scranton, Pa., Norma Hoffpauir, of Orange, Texas, and Martha Gladden, of Cape Charles; five grandchildren, Toni Thornes, Jarrod Sayers, Danielle Labreck, Jake Thornes, and Quinton Thornes; and two great-grandchildren, Caleb Sayers and Liam Sayers. She was predeceased by a daughter, Denise Thornes Sayers; a brother, Allan Parker; and a sister, Phyllis Etz.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, at Wilkins-Doughty Funeral Home with the Rev. Jonathan Carpenter officiating. Interment followed in Cape Charles Cemetery. Memorials may be made to SPCA Eastern Shore, Inc., P.O. Box 164, Onley, VA 23418.
