A mix of old favorites and never before seen properties will be among the 14 Chincoteague homes on this year’s Home for the Holidays Tour that kicks off Saturday, Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
“Once again we will be showing traditional homes, inns, studios, she-sheds, and pop-up shops to attract the interests of everyone who enjoys beautiful island homes and how their owners decorate year-round or for the holidays,” said Kim Dennis of Hollyhocks on Main Street who is organizing this year’s tour.
The annual homes tour has become part of the island’s local celebrations for the holidays, drawing several hundred visitors and local citizens to tour traditional homes and unique properties that capture an owner’s vision.
“Our collection of homes is designed to offer something different for each and every person who takes the tour,” said Dennis.
Tickets are $20 per person with all proceeds going to the Manna Café on Chincoteague. They can be purchased at Hollyhocks at 4090 Main St. or Sundial Books at 4065 Main St.
The Annex next to the Island Theatre will be open the entire time of the tour where guests can pick up brochures, enjoy a cup of coffee, meet fellow tour participants, or just rest up a bit before venturing out to see another home. Poseidon’s Pantry will supply pre-ordered lunches that can be picked up at the Annex.
“It’s a great way to experience Chincoteague, meet the wonderful people of our Island, and donate to a worthy cause,” said Dennis. “Cap it off with another island tradition, the Christmas Parade, and you will see why people are drawn to Chincoteague.
