Mrs. Joyce “Ailene” Hopkins, 90, of Hallwood, wife of the late Charles E. “Hop” Hopkins Jr., passed away on Oct. 31, 2018, at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital.
Born on Nov. 16, 1927, in Poulson, Va., she was the daughter of the late Thurgood Hart and Jeanette Smith Hart. Mrs. Hopkins worked for Jaxon’s for many years and was a member of Hallwood Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hopkins is survived by a daughter, Brenda H. Thornton and husband, Harry; a granddaughter, Angela Streng and husband, Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Ava, Reagan and Elliot Streng.
A funeral service was conducted Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, from the graveside of the Groton’s Cemetery, in Hallwood, with the Rev. Danny Shrieves officiating.
Arrangements were made by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
