Mrs. Shirley Dean Berry Edwards, 83, beloved wife of John R. “Ronnie” Edwards, of Melfa, passed away with her family by her side, on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018.

Born June 14, 1935, at the Berry family home in Gargatha, she was a daughter of the late Millard Fillmore Berry and Hazel Powell Berry. With her husband and children, Mrs. Edwards was an owner/operator of Tammy and Johnny’s restaurant, a well-known Eastern Shore eatery. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards opened Tammy and Johnny’s 52 years ago, remaining in the business until their recent retirement. She was a member of Market Street United Methodist Church in Onancock.

In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughter, Tammy Lou Edwards Hickman and husband, E.T. III, of Nelsonia; her son, John R. “Johnny” Edwards and Wendy, of Parksley; brother, Millard F. Berry Jr., of Salisbury, Md.; two grandchildren, Hunter T. Hickman and Bailey E. Edwards; sister-in-law, Melinda Edwards, of Slanesville, W.V.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Renee Bailey Edwards; sister, Marian Berry Baker; and brothers, Carwin Adams Berry and William “Bill” Berry.

Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in Onancock on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. J. Barton Weakley officiating.
