Mr. Herman Glenn Aldinger, 79, of Chincoteague, passed away on Sept. 4, 2018, after a lengthy illness.

Born, July 24, 1939, he was the son of the late Herman and Miriam Aldinger. He was the oldest of four sons including Melvin Aldinger (deceased), Stanley Aldinger, and Larry Aldinger. He was a loving husband to Carolle Aldinger for 32 years.

He is survived by his children, Steve Aldinger, of Royersford, Pa., Scott Aldinger, of Savannah, Ga., Craig Aldinger, of Royersford, Pa., Eric Fike, of Wilmington, Del., Sue Aldinger and Kimberly Hodges, both of Pottstown, Pa., and Holly Warner, of Chincoteague; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Aldinger, known as Glenn, graduated from Elizabethtown High School and St Joseph’s University. He retired from AT & T after an extensive career in the telecommunications industry. He was an active member of Kiwanis, a long-time volunteer at the Assateague Wildlife Refuge (he and his wife were awarded The National Park Services Volunteer of the Year – 2007), and an active member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.

He enjoyed making thousands of Christmas cookies each year to share with family and friends, loved fishing and crabbing with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, gardening, photography, and being an avid reader.

His memorial service was originally set for Saturday, Sept. 15, but has been rescheduled due to Hurricane Florence. It is now scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 6, at 11 a.m., at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, in Jenkins Bridge, at 11 a.m. with the Revs. Clair Hunkins and Rick Willis officiating. It will be followed by a luncheon in the fellowship hall.
