Mr. Charles H. “Che” Evans, departed this world May 11, 2018. He was born in South Baltimore on the third floor of his family’s funeral home. He was a 1961 graduate of Catonsville High School. He married Kathy Gleig and they started a family.

Their son, Brett, had three children, Austin, 18, Nicole, 15, and Dylan, 5 years old. Their daughter, Alwyn, had two daughters, Brook, 21, and Brystal, 12 years old.

He retired after 30 years with Howard Co. Public Works of Pocomoke City. He also taught truck driving for Shippers’ Choice, was the bridge tender in Pocomoke, and was in the National Guard for six years.

His family has departed, including his only sibling, Alexander Evans. He leaves behind cousins, aunts and uncles, and in-laws. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly. He will be buried at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Baltimore. He had a good life. He loved Budweiser, God, and the Orioles, not necessarily in that order.

“So live, that when thy summons comes to join

The innumerable caravan, which moves

To that mysterious realm, where each shall take

His chamber in the silent halls of death,

Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,

Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed

By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave,

Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch   About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.”
