Ms. Leslie Ann Mears Savage, 59, resident of Parksley, passed away Thursday, July 26, 2018, at her home. Born Sept. 7, 1958, in Nassawadox, she was the beloved daughter of Herbert T. Mears Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Greenbush, and the late Phyllis Bull Mears.

A 1976 graduate of Onancock High School, Ms. Savage worked for Accomack County for more than 35 years and most recently held the elected position of Commissioner of the Revenue for the past three terms. Well known for her spitfire personality and compassionate heart, Ms. Savage was always there to help anyone in need. She loved all animals and especially adored her dog, Hunter, and cat, Toot. Ms. Savage’s grandchildren were her pride and joy, and there was never a day that went by that she didn’t tell them how very much she loved them.

In addition to her father and stepmother, Ms. Savage is survived by her son, Jared Savage and wife, Lindsey, of Hopeton; brothers, Herbert T. “Tom” Mears III, of Falls Church, Va., and Robert “Bobby” Mears, of Greenbush; grandsons, Austin Michael Savage, Jace Reid Savage, Gunner Lane Savage, and Gage Rebel Savage; aunts, June Evans, of Daugherty, and Joan Bull Spurley, of Horsey; and numerous cousins.

A memorial service was held at Nandua Middle School, in Onley, on Aug. 1, 2018, with Mr. George Fulk officiating.
