Swine & Wine fundraiser to benefit Boys & Girls Club

The 2019 Swine & Wine  dinner and dance benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia – Eastern Shore Club is rapidly approaching, but tickets are still available for the gala event on Saturday, Oct. 19

The Swine & Wine will again be staged at the Mary N. Smith Cultural Enrichment Center outside of Accomac.

Held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Swine & Wine will feature roast pig and chicken plus wine and other beverages. This year the H.M. Johnson Band will provide the music for enjoyment and dancing. A silent auction will feature Eastern Shore art, golfing trips, fishing gear and many other items.

Swine & Wine is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Boys & Girls Club. The Eastern Shore Club has approximately 200 members with 55 percent of the membership qualifying for free or reduced meals at schools and 59 percent coming from single parent homes. Last year the club served over 25,000 meals at programs that are conducted after school from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and all day on weekdays during the summer.

The mission focus of the club is for club members to achieve academic success, develop good character and citizenship and maintain healthy lifestyles.

Sponsorships are available for Swine & Wine that will help the club meet its mission. A $2000 Whole Hog sponsorship includes 10 tickets to the event. A $1,000 Suckling Pig Sponsor receives eight tickets. A $500 Spiral Ham Sponsor receives four tickets, and a $250 Rack of Ribs Sponsor gets two tickets. There is also the $150 Slab of Bacon donation.

Tickets to the event are $50 and $40 for young adults 30 years and younger.
