Eastern Shore of Virginia Historical Society Project

December 14, 2018

In November of last year, the Eastern Shore of Virginia Historical Society undertook a
long-term project to provide funding for various ESVHS initiatives as well as ongoing maintenance and improvements of its Ker Place headquarters in Onancock. The project, the Dogwood Branch home décor consignment shop, is preparing to celebrate its first anniversary with special events, sales, and hours.
Moving into the holidays, the shop’s staff hopes to attract new consignors as well as customers and volunteers. Plans include expanded holiday décor for sale, the introduction of gift certificates, and an ongoing celebration of special events such as Second Fridays and holiday specials.
The Dogwood Branch will be open late for Second Fridays on Nov. 9 and Dec. 14 as well as participate in the Onancock Farmers & Artisans Market on Saturday, Nov. 17.
Staffed entirely by volunteers and managed by Hilary Hartnett-Wilson, the society’s executive director, the shop accepts and sells fine consignments. The Dogwood Branch provides an outlet for selling no-longer-needed objects and purchasing new-to-buyer treasures all while aiding the historical society in its missions of education and preservation.
The shop, located at 4 North Street in Onancock, boasts a constantly changing inventory of art, home décor, furniture, costume and fine jewelry, and other unique items. Volunteers report amazement at the outstanding quality and variety of items that have come through in the shop’s first year.
For more information, call 757-789-5368 or stop by the shop. If you are interested in having a large estate or collection examined to determine its suitability for the shop, please email [email protected] with photographs of the items.`
