Doris Kearns Goodwin as part of Joan Marshall Lecture Series

Eastern Shore of Virginia Historical Society presents author Doris Kearns Goodwin as part of Joan Marshall Lecture Series 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, Nandua High School, Lankford Hwy., Onley. This second lecture of the series features world-renowned presidential historian and New York Times best-selling author Goodwin, who will speak on her “Leadership in Turbulent Times.” Goodwin worked with Lyndon Baines Johnson in the White House and later assisted him in the writing of his memoirs.
She also has appeared on “Meet the Press” and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” $10 for Historical Society members, $15 for not-yet members. Purchase tickets at

The lecture series, made possible through a grant from the Jane Batten Donor-Advised Fund of the Hampton Roads Community Foundation, is named for the late Joan “Johnny” Marshall, former president of the Historical Society and a strong proponent of education regarding Eastern Shore history.
