“Dinner & A Documentary” Scholarship Fundraiser

July 12, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Four years ago our Empowering Women – Overcoming Racism, Sexism & Poverty group determined to establish a community-based, non-traditional scholarship in line with ESTACI’s Mission “to reduce the impact of poverty on the lives of Eastern Shore residents”.  In August of 2015 we were excited to award our first $2500 scholarships to two graduating seniors.
We now have a track record of awarding a total of $15,000 to 6 ESTACI Young Scholars from Northampton, Nandua, and Arcadia High Schools – Camra Handy, Kimberly Perry, Evelyn Dunton, Liliana Rosa, Phillip Stamps, and Jacqueline Hernandez.  Half of our Young Scholars have attended ESCC, and half of them have gone to other Virginia colleges; they are preparing for careers of service to ESVA and the rest of Virginia.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!!  On August 3 we will award our 7th and 8th $2500 scholarships to Nandua graduates Tamyra Jones and McKaley Parks.  Our Scholarship Fund is short $1,675 – we need your donations to help us reach our budget of $5,000 in time for this year’s awards!  Please bring or mail your contributions to ESTACI Scholarship Fund to us as soon as possible.  Every donation helps!
Our monthly “Dinner & a Documentary” Scholarship Fundraiser will be 6pm next Friday, July 12  at our office.  July’s Documentary from ‘Eyes on the Prize, America’s Civil Rights Years” is Disc #2, “Ain’t Scared of Your Jails (1960-1961)”.  Dinner is provided; Scholarship donations are encouraged and appreciated!
