CCA Concert Concludes Pony Penning Week

On Saturday, July 27, Chincoteague Cultural Alliance presents a free concert in Robert Reed Downtown Waterfront Park to top off Pony Penning Week.  Randy Lee Ashcraft and the Saltwater Cowboys perform at 7 pm as part of CCA’S Music at the Dock concert series. Ashcraft has been entertaining people around the country for over 25 years, winning numerous awards along the way including the Jimmy Dean/True Value Country Music Showdown, the Independent Music World Series held in Philadelphia, and Best Entertainer/Singer of the Eastern Shore, as well as Best Singer/Songwriter on Delmarva multiple times.  His popular recordings include the locally-inspired songs “Shore Thing” and “Pony Penning Time”.
While Ashcraft has opened for such national acts as Lonestar, Phil Vassar, Aaron Tippin, Sawyer Brown, Travis Tritt, Toby Keith, and Sara Evans, he is happy to be back on the Eastern Shore with the Saltwater Cowboys playing their own brand of music, often called “Beach Country”.  Other members of the band are Jimmy Rowbottom on guitar, Ken Roughton on drums, and Leon Carlins on bass and guitar.
Earlier on Saturday, the Island Farmers and Artisans Market at 6309 Church Street offers local seafood, produce, meats, and other edibles plus a wide array of arts, crafts, antiques and plants.  The Market runs from 9 am to 1 pm with live music by Mike Hawker, free admission and free parking.  The Market returns each Wednesday and Saturday through August.
