Longtime Northampton resident Nolan Rayfield has officially announced his candidacy for Northampton County Treasurer in the Nov. 3 election.
In his announcement press release, Rayfield offered a vision “centered on modernizing services, improving financial stewardship, and providing exceptional service to every taxpayer.”
Rayfield is the son of Berkley and Joy Rayfield and the grandson of Tommy Rayfield and the late Francie Rayfield.
Growing up in his family’s independent pharmacy business, he said he developed a strong work ethic and gained firsthand experience with the day-to-day responsibilities of operating a small business.
The press release stated that those experiences instilled in him the importance of fiscal responsibility, customer service, and giving back to the community.
A graduate of Radford University with a degree in finance and a minor in economics, Rayfield has built his career managing finances, analyzing budgets, and helping individuals and businesses make sound financial decisions.
He said his professional experience in banking and financial management has given him firsthand knowledge of the importance of accountability, efficiency, and public trust.
“I decided to run because I believe the treasurer’s office should continually look for ways to better serve the people of Northampton County,” Rayfield said.
“Taxpayers deserve convenient, secure, and modern services while knowing their public funds are being managed responsibly.”
If elected, Rayfield’s priorities include expanding payment options and improving online services to make it easier for residents to conduct business with the treasurer’s office, carefully managing county funds to maximize returns while protecting taxpayer dollars, and ensuring the office remains transparent, efficient, and responsive.
“I respect the work of everyone who serves our county,” Rayfield said. “My goal is to bring fresh ideas, financial expertise, and a forward-looking approach that prepares the treasurer’s office for the future.”
Rayfield said he looks forward to meeting residents throughout the campaign to hear their concerns, answer questions, and discuss his vision for an office that is accessible, innovative, and committed to serving every citizen with professionalism and integrity.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Early voting begins Sept. 18.
