Dr. Marion Bagley Walker Jr., of Pungoteague, born at Norfolk General Hospital on Feb. 19, 1937, traveled the world and returned to Norfolk Sentara Heart Hospital, where he died on May 5, 2026. He was the son of Dr. Marion Bagley Walker and Janet Tucker Walker.
After graduating from Hampden Sydney College and Medical College of Virginia, he became an orthodontist and practiced with his father in Norfolk and later alone in Onley on the Eastern Shore. He was a member of Galilee Episcopal Church in Virginia Beach.
“He loved his God, his wife, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, his dogs, and his life. Accomplishments? The usual stuff, except for one amazing thing. Late in his life, he released a loon drowning in a fishing net, and once free, she swam back to him and with a gesture of thanks, touched him gently with her bill.”
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura Sewell Walker; a daughter, Beth (Dale) Woods; a granddaughter, Laurie (Tommy) Boucher and their sons, Ben and Ollie; a son, Scott (Kris) Walker and their children, Adrian and Charlotte; and his siblings, Jane Steinhilber and Tucker (Reg) McLelland.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Kody Woods.
Services are planned for June 2 at Galilee Episcopal Church.
