Mr. Peter Boothe Pulman Jr., born Feb. 28, 1936, in Manhattan, N.Y., to Peter Boothe and Carolyn Burgess Pulman, died peacefully at his home on Chincoteague Island on Dec. 31, 2025.

He attended Randolph-Macon College in Ashland and graduated in 1959 with a bachelor’s degree in biology.

Following college, he spent most of his time working in medical and research labs before finding a place in kitchen design.

Though he was born in New York and spent time in Connecticut, Maryland, and Arizona, most of his adult life was spent in Virginia’s Loudoun and Accomack counties. He also monitored traffic at the over sand vehicle stations. He was presented volunteer of the year award in 2019. He was a life member of the Friends of Chincoteague Refuge, where he served on the board of directors.

As an avid tennis player, he was a life member of the Chincoteague Community Tennis Association, where he played regularly for over 20 years until his health declined. He also served as vice president on the board of directors.

He was a regular communicant at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Jenkins Bridge, for over 20 years, and served on the vestry as junior warden at one time.

Peter was predeceased by his parents, Peter Boothe and Carolyn Burgess Pulman; and his brothers, John Allen Pulman and retired U.S. Navy Capt. Vincent Onslow.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Bragg Pulman; his sons, Shawn Allen Pulman, John Porterfield Pulman and his wife, Andrea Stocks, Charles Oliver Pulman and his wife, Danielle Ann Pulman; his daughter, Kate Laura Smith and her husband, Lee Edmond Smith; his grandchildren, Andrew Scott Pulman, Oliver Tiberius Pulman, Liam Edmond Smith, Truett Boothe Smith, and Joshua Stephen Stocks; and his great-granddaughter, Hayden Smith.

A memorial service will be held at Emanuel Church, 26405 Horsey Road, Jenkins Bridge, VA 23442, on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 10:30 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Emmanuel Church, CNWR, SPCA Onley, and/or Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
