Mr. William Lee Powell, 56, of Cheriton, passed away on Nov. 3, 2025, with his family by his side.

Born and raised in Cape Charles, William was the son of the late Robert Lee Powell and Marge Collins Powell. He dedicated 33 years of service to the town of Cape Charles and was a proud member of the Cape Charles Fire Company for 43 years, where he served his community with honor, loyalty, and compassion.

William is survived by the love of his life for 36 years, Sandra Parker; his children, Melissa Long (Tony) and Spencer Parker (Drusilla); and his cherished grandchildren, Morgan and Dylan Eder, Seth and Jordan Parker, and Ethan, Cameron, and Corey Hall. He is also survived by his sister, Tammy Powell; his brother, Robert Charles Powell; his nieces, Ashley, Kelsea, and Chandler; his nephew, Christopher; and his extended family, Jay, Trish, Masen, and Marissa Bell. He was predeceased by his sister, Beth Bitterman.

A funeral service with firefighter honors will be held on Sat., Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. at the Cape Charles Fire Company, with Pastor Barry Downing officiating. Interment will follow at Capeville Masonic Cemetery. Following the graveside service, the family will receive friends for fellowship and refreshments at the Cape Charles Fire Company.

William will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his community, his kindness, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His legacy of service and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew him.
