Mr. Preston Cornelius Kellam Jr., better known as PC, 81, passed away Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025. He was a resident of Silver Beach and Commonwealth Senior Living of the Eastern Shore in Onancock. He was born Sept. 28, 1943, in Nassawadox. He lived in Onancock and Exmore before moving to Silver Beach in 1970.
PC graduated from Randolph Macon Academy in Front Royal in 1962. He then joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. While there he met his wife, Carol “Mickey” McPherson. Upon returning to Virginia, he began his farming career with PC Kellam and Sons in Church Neck and Exmore. He later was employed by Associated Farms, Shore Fertilizer, and Northampton County as an attendant at several convenience centers, lastly being Wardtown.
During his lifetime, he served on the Northampton County Board of Supervisors for 16 years. He was also on the Northampton County School Board and was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Jamesville.
PC is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mickey Kellam; his daughters, Julie K. Gilliam (Jeff) and Susan C. Kellam (John); his sister, Vicki Baxter; his grandchildren, Sydney Kellam Elliott (Hunter) and Riley and Jake Gilliam; his great-grandchildren, Kairo and Avalei Elliott; his sister-in-law, Debbie Dutcher (Vic); his brother-in-law, Jim McPherson (Bonnie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Pres and Madge Kellam; his brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Anne Kellam; his daughter, Peggy Kellam; and his brothers-in-law, Gary Baxter and David McPherson.
PC loved the Eastern Shore of Virginia, especially Silver Beach. He enjoyed riding the back roads and looking at the fields. He liked meeting up with friends for morning chats at the County Line and Hardees. He never met a stranger, no matter where he was. He gave the best hugs and smiles. Most of all, PC loved his friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Belle Haven cemetery with the Rev. Tammy Estep officiating. A reception will follow at the Seafood Room at the Moose Lodge in Belle Haven.

The family would like to thank Commonwealth Senior Living at the Eastern Shore for their care and dedication to PC during his time there, where he made many great friends. The family would also like to thank Riverside Hospice of the Eastern Shore for their assistance with getting PC back to the Shore from Riverside Newport News and their extraordinary care during his final days. We would like to thank all of the nurses and doctors who provided excellent care during his time at both hospitals.
