It is with heavy hearts that her family announces the passing of their loved one, Mrs. Barbara Raye Williams Hammond, on Aug. 15, 2025, at the age of 70.
Barbara was born in Salisbury, Md., on Jan. 3, 1955, to the late Robert M. Williams and Margurite Williams Fisher, of Chincoteague Island, where she spent her formative years before moving to Salisbury.
She is survived by her husband, Arlie Hammond; her grandchildren, Conner Hammond, Riley Hammond, Natalie Smith, and Savannah Smith. She also leaves behind her siblings, Gail Bowden, Linda (Garry) Bailey, Cheryl (Jim) Harte, and Kenny (Shirley) Williams, along with an aunt, Louise Bowden, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barbara’s family is forever grateful to the special caregivers, Jim and Candie Harte, who stood by her side, offering comfort, compassion, and dignity every step of the way.
Through a long and difficult battle, she fought with fierce determination and quiet grace. Even as illness tried to dim her light, she kept her family laughing and dancing. She leaves behind not just memories but moments of magic her family will carry forever.
She was preceded in death by her son, Arlie J. Hammond Jr.; her grandson, Cody Hammond; and her stepfather, Norwood Fisher Jr.
In her memory, donations may be made to Coastal Hospice. There will be no funeral service held at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
