Miles McIntyre

Aug 8, 2025 | Obituaries

Mr. Miles Porter McIntyre was born on Sept. 28, 2002, in Nassawadox, to Adele and Cameron McIntyre. His was a life filled with adventure.

He hunted ducks, geese, doves, and deer in fields and woodlands all over the entire Eastern Shore of Virginia and Maryland.

He caught red drum in the surf at Hog Island, black drum at Oyster, cobia at Cape Charles, and rockfish all around the Pocomoke Sound.

He surfed at Virginia Beach and Assateague, often arriving before daybreak to catch the best waves before sunrise.

He camped on wilderness lakes and rivers in northern Maine and hiked huge mountains in Maine and New Hampshire. He caught mahi mahi in Florida and snapper in the Bahamas.

He traveled with his father and his brother, Caleb, duck hunting in Saskatchewan, Arkansas, and Montana. He helped build a cabin in Montana, sketched herds of bison in Yellowstone National Park, and rode horseback across the Yellowstone basin.

Miles was a terrific cook, a tireless worker, and a faithful brother. Most of all he was a gifted artist. He played AYSO soccer for eight years, and at Broadwater Academy he ran cross country, played Viking football, and ran track and field. He was strong, proud, and intelligent. Miles was a 2021 graduate of Broadwater Academy, winning numerous art awards for his drawing skills.

He was a 2025 graduate of James Madison University, with a bachelor’s degree in integrated science and technology and a concentration in environment and sustainability, making the dean’s list his last two semesters.

Miles is survived by his parents, Adele and Cameron McIntyre, and his brother, Caleb, all of New Church; his maternal grandparents, Blaine and Sylvia Miller, of Maine; his paternal grandmother, Susan McIntyre, of South Carolina; his uncles, Ryan McIntyre and Lon Miller and his wife, Lisa, and their sons, Clayton and Colby; and his aunt, Christal Siren and her husband, Soren, and their daughters, Ella and Lucia.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Miles Porter McIntyre on Saturday, Aug. 9, at 2 p.m. at Chatham Vineyards in Machipongo. All are welcome.

Miles was the most fun, caring, and loving son a parent could be blessed with. He was a wonderful young man. He will be missed.
