Mrs. Patricia Holland Boggs Richardson, better known as “Patsy” to family and friends, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Commonwealth Senior Living on the Eastern Shore in Onancock. Born on April 23, 1937, in Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Robert Barrett Holland and the late Mary Hooper Holland.

Patsy was the picture of Tidewater gentility — a consummate host and style maven — she found her greatest joy in entertaining others. Patsy was known for her colorful and daring outfits, her beautiful home, and driving around town in her white Hummer. In her last days, Patsy recalled fond memories of dancing the night away to big band music at the Cavalier Beach Club in Virginia Beach.

Generations of Virginia Pilots and Outer Banksmen marked her heritage, and she grew up in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, always near the water. She married Capt. Charles Holtzclaw Richardson in 1991 and moved to the Eastern Shore of Virginia, where she found a home in the charming town of Onancock, then moved to their historic home, Arbuckle Place, in Assawoman. After a few years back in Virginia Beach, she returned finally to Onancock.

Patsy is survived by her children, Adrienne Boggs McIsaac, Jessica Boggs Kaputa (Brian Falvey), and Hugh Boggs (Stephanie Boggs); sister-in-law, Patricia Holland; grandchildren, Rowan Davis (Michael Davis), Samantha Kaputa, Ciara, Sophia, and Jenna Boggs; and great-grandchildren, Liam and Chloe Davis.

She was predeceased by her parents, Robert Barrett Holland and Mary Hooper Holland; husband, Capt. Charles Holtzclaw Richardson; sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Harold Baker; brother, Robert Lee Holland; and grandchild, Cain Boggs.

A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, June 1, at 1 p.m., at Onancock Cemetery, followed by a private gathering at her daughter’s home. Patsy will be interred with her husband.
