Mrs. Lois Mae Webb, 101, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at her home, with her loving family by her side. A lifelong resident of Hacksneck, Lois was born April 28, 1922, to the late Robert and Annie Stevens.
Lois’ life revolved around her trust in the Lord and her devotion to family, creating a beautiful legacy of faith, love, and compassion for over a century. She entered the workforce at a young age, having worked at the former Gregg Harriett Shirt Factory and Dulaney Foods for several years. Later she worked at the former Northampton-Accomack Memorial Hospital and at nursing homes in both Accomack and Northampton counties.
Lois preferred to stay busy, even when off the clock, and loved going fishing, cooking, gardening, and quilting. Over the years she picked many a bucket of blueberries at the Hacksneck Blueberry Farm and tugged thousands of sweet potatoes, which she looked forward to sharing with friends and neighbors.
She was a longtime member of the Community Church of God in Birdsnest, never wavering in her love for her Lord and Savior. Those who were fortunate enough to have known Lois’ kind and generous heart are grateful for the memories (and sweet potatoes) shared.
In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband, Edgar W. “Snooks” Webb; and brothers, Earl, Grover, Willie, and Paul Stevens.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Frankie Lee Bennett, of Hacksneck, and Archie Mears Bennett Jr. and his wife Joan, of Brown Summit, N.C.; grandchildren, Michelle Bozovich, Rebekah McConnell, and Lisa Hagan; great-grandchildren, Laura McFayden, Rebekah K. Bozovich, Caroline Bozovich, Ike Mango, David Hagan, and April Hagan; and great-great- grandson, Jace Hagan.
Lois’ family will be forever thankful for the care and compassion she received from her longtime caregiver, Nancy Killmon; as well as for the support of friends and neighbors, Jason and Heather Callaway, and the nurses at Riverside Shore Hospice.
Funeral services were conducted from the chapel of the Williams-Onancock Funeral Home on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Roland “Tommy” Kellam officiating. Interment was held in the Johnson’s United Methodist Church Cemetery in Machipongo.
