Mrs. Margaret Ann Holden,72, was born on May 18, 1951, to the late Henry and Golden Payton in Mappsville. She peacefully departed this life at her residence on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023.

Margaret, affectionately known by family and friends as “Annie,” was educated in the public schools of Accomack County. At an early age, she gave her life to Christ. In later years, she became a member of First Baptist Church in Mappsville, where she served on the usher board and the Missionary Society.

Margaret was employed at Holly Farms, now Tyson Foods, for 45 years until her health began to fail.

Funeral services were held on Saturday Aug. 19, 2023, from First Baptist Church, Mappsville, with the Rev. Fred Crawley officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: four daughters, Valerie Payton, Valistine Taylor, Karen Holden, and Betty Harmon; one granddaughter that she raised as her daughter, Tierra Payton; two sons, Eugene Holden Jr. and Charles Payton Jr.; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one sister, Rose Strand; two brothers, George Payton and Steve Payton; her riding partners, Keevin and Kyvion; several special friends; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Arrangements were by the Cooper & Humbles Funeral Co., Accomac.
