Mr. Philip James Martin, 73, of Bloxom, passed away on May 30, 2023, in Bloxom. Born on May 8, 1950, in Nassawadox, he was the son of the late Alvin James Martin and the late Gloria Jean Taylor Martin.

In Phil’s early years he farmed with his father, Alvin. He later worked at John Deere as a Field Technician and at Wallops Flight Facility as a Hydraulic Technician.

Phil was the owner of Chesapeake Antiques in New Church for several years as well. He enjoyed antiques, tractors, old cars, agriculture, auto and mechanical repair, going to auctions, and just being outside tinkering around his property.

Phil is survived by two daughters, Brandy Terrell and husband, Michael, of Chincoteague and Bethany Brooks and husband, Dakota, of North Carolina; two sons, Alex Martin, of Baltimore, and Aaron Martin, of North Carolina; grandchildren, Jayden Merritt, Makenzie Terrell, Emmalynn Grace Martin, Caiden Joshua Martin, Tristan Brooks, and Whitley Brooks; a stepbrother, Michael Nock and his wife, Donna, of Florida; and two stepsisters, Rosemary Nock Marcengill, of Greenbackville, and Arlene Hewitt, of Poquoson.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brianna Merritt.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2023, at 2 p.m. from the Parksley Cemetery with the Rev. John Cullop officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley.
