Mrs. Bonnie Sue Spencer Jones 72, from Sanford, passed away at Shore Health and Rehab Center in Parksley, July 3, 2021.
Bonnie was the daughter of the late Daniel Webster Spencer and the late Margaret Joyce Onley. She was the stepdaughter of the late Martha Spencer.
Bonnie married Richard Fred Jones Jr. (now deceased) on March 20, 1983. They attended Sanford United Methodist Church and enjoyed gospel music.
She was very talented at beautiful knitting, crocheting, and latch hook. She enjoyed playing games, word find books, and especially playing bingo at the nursing home. She loved her cats, who were constant companions and joy for her.
Bonnie was survived by a son, Daniel Bryan Jones, of Virginia Beach, who she loved greatly; two half-sisters, Phyliss Taylor and Claudine Shertenlieb; one half-brother, Elmer Taylor Jr.; stepbrother, Richard Keith (Joyce); stepbrother-in-law, Artie Coldwell; and special cousins, Olivia Satchell and Gladys Hinman.
Other than her parents, stepmother, and husband, she was preceded in death by three half-sisters, Pat Holden, Rose Taylor, and Maxaine Ervin; stepbrother, Douglas Keith; and stepsister, Joyce Coldwell.
A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at 1 p.m., at the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley with the Rev. Mary Jimenez officiating.
