Ms. Sallie Addison Jacob, 101, passed peacefully to her heavenly home on March 13, 2024. 

She was a devoted friend to many and a special aunt to her nieces and nephew. 

Born in Cape Charles on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, she was preceded in death by her father, Lucius S. Jacob, and mother, Arinthia Goffigon Jacob, of Jacobia, and a brother, Lucius S. Jacob Jr.

Sallie was a proud alumna of Mary Washington College. After the death of her father in 1957, her mother came to live with her in Norfolk. They had many adventures, traveling extensively both in the United States and internationally.

Sallie was an executive assistant for Texaco, working in Norfolk and Atlanta. She retired in 1980 and returned to Norfolk to begin her second career with Sovran Bank. 

She was a member of Bayview Baptist Church, DAR, and Colonial Dames. 

Sallie was an active resident in Westminster Canterbury for her last 20 years. She was an avid bridge and game player and had many dear friends. 

Sallie is survived by her nephew, Read Jacob (JoEllen); her nieces, Sallie Stark (Bill) and Pam McDulin (Tim); her grandnephews, her grandniece, and a dear cousin, Leigh Jonns (Chris).

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers at Westminster for their devoted care. 

A graveside service will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2 p.m., at Cape Charles Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Charles Peterson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bayside Baptist Church, 1920 Pleasure House Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
