Mrs. Elodie Clark Fish, 93, of Chincoteague, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Sept. 5, 2026.
She was born on Oct. 8, 1932, on Chincoteague Island to the late Wilmer and Virginia Clark.
Elodie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Walter Russell Fish; her sons, Douglas Fish and Wilmer Russell Fish; her great-granddog, Seal Montross; her brother, Raymond Clark; and her sister, June Robinson.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Stephanie Montross (Chris), of Chincoteague; her great-granddog, Sailor Montross; her daughter-in-law, Joan Fish; her brother, Arnold Clark (Angel), of Wallops Island; and her sister, Arlene Wilgus (Dill), of Chincoteague; as well as a nephew, several nieces, and many cousins.
Elodie was a devoted member of Union Baptist Church in Chincoteague. She also dedicated more than 52 years of service to the Ladies Auxiliary of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, serving in many different roles throughout the years. Her commitment to the auxiliary and the Chincoteague community was a true reflection of her generous and caring spirit.
For many years, Elodie could be found faithfully working the french fry stand at the annual Volunteer Firemen’s Carnival. She also spent countless hours preparing and serving the many delicious dinners hosted by the Auxiliary. Her dedication, hard work, and warm presence will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Elodie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout her long and meaningful life.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Union Baptist Church on Chincoteague Island.
