Mr. Anthony Grant Monte, 40, of Virginia Beach, passed away on July 27, 2026.
A memorial service was held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, 1264 Great Neck Road North, Virginia Beach, VA 23454 on Friday, July 31, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Matt Ruckel officiating. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home provided memorial service arrangements, and the Cremation Society of Virginia handled cremation services.
Anthony was born in New Jersey on Oct. 2, 1985. His loving parents, Craig and Karen Hudson, raised him on the Eastern Shore. He graduated from Northampton High School in 2003.
In October 2019, Anthony began working at Lockheed Martin, one of his favorite and most rewarding employments. He was a range technician supporting naval special warfare at Fort Story. He continually expanded his knowledge through numerous professional certifications and specialized training. Due to debilitating health issues, Anthony medically retired with the hopes of one day returning to the mission and his fellow men in the field.
Throughout Anthony’s life, he was known for his dedication to service, a strong work ethic, and a steadfast commitment to protecting others. His career spanned more than two decades in law enforcement, security, and military support, where he earned the respect of colleagues and those he served. His commitment to service, professionalism, and protecting others was evident throughout every stage of his career and remained one of the defining characteristics of his life.
Anthony not only had a dedication to his job but also a deep love for God, country, and family. He liked spending time with his friends sharing his life experiences. He enjoyed the unmistakable sound of a powerful engine and would frequently turn oil changes into car buying experiences, which brought joy and a smile to his face. He loved going camping with family and spending time around the campfire at Cherrystone Family Campground in Cape Charles.
He had a special bond with animals and children. They seemed drawn to his playful spirit and captivated by his attentiveness. He attended Big House Church and recently had become involved in the youth ministry by providing a secure and safe place for teens to grow in their faith. In his free time, he enjoyed a protein-packed meal at Texas Roadhouse.
Whether it was laughing with friends around a table filled with food or watching his wife enjoy game night with their friends, Anthony’s love for his wife and their devotion to each other was evident in the way they looked at each other. Much of Anthony’s time was spent in the company of his loving and devoted wife, Shannon Knowlton. For six and a half years, Anthony and Shannon shared life as they maneuvered around his health issues while cherishing every moment together. From vacationing in Florida and Myrtle Beach to riding to the oceanfront and watching the sun set to holding tightly to each other for a selfie, they enjoyed their time together.
Besides his wife, Anthony is survived by his beloved parents, Karen and Craig Hudson; his grandmothers, Jacquelin Grant and Gloria Hudson; his siblings, Jackie Ranson (Justin), April Comstock (Ross), Aaron Hudson (Joy), and Heather Frisby (Bubba); his cherished nieces and nephews, Chelsea, Matthew, Kylie, Natalie, Scarlett, Elliott, Lani, Landon, and Ina; his aunts and uncles, Gale and Keith Billings, Krista Jones and Woody Morton, and Kelley and Roy Williams; and his cousins, Ryan (Kimberly), Will, Zachary, Brooke, and Trey. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Nancy Rose (Gary); his father-in-law, Keith Knowlton; his brother-in-law, Brandon Knowlton (Stephanie); and his nieces and nephews, Tristan, Lina, Selah, Judah, and MJ. He has numerous extended family members who loved him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Al Grant and Tommy Hudson; his great-aunt, Joan Kopp; his great-uncle, Al Klaips; his aunt, Susan Kellam; his uncle, Donnie Kellam; and his brother-in-law, Travis Knowlton.
