Mr. Walter “Joey” Zuchel, 70, of Quinby, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.
Born to the late Robert and Margaret Zuchel, Joey was a lifelong Eastern Shore resident who was known for his hardworking nature, easygoing personality, and deep appreciation for the outdoors and the people he loved.
Joey spent many years as a truck driver, working for H.W. Drummond, Bagwell Oil, and later PepUp. He also enjoyed a successful career as a carpenter for more than 20 years, taking pride in his craftsmanship and strong work ethic.
An avid outdoorsman, Joey loved fishing and hunting with his bird dogs. He also enjoyed traveling and especially cherished taking cruises, with his recent journey to Alaska being one of his favorite adventures. Affectionately known as “String” by many of his dear friends, Joey could often be found at the Island House Restaurant, where he enjoyed gathering with his longtime entourage of friends and sharing stories, laughter, and fellowship.
Above all, Joey treasured the time he spent with his family and friends. His kind heart, loyal friendship, and love of life will be remembered by all who knew him.
