Mrs. Jeanne M. Irons, 69, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, just five days before her 70th birthday. She was born Jeanne Marie Homme on July 6, 1956, in Staten Island, N.Y., and was the second of five children.
Jeanne was predeceased by her mother, Joan Tordo, and her older sister, Lora Unger. She had a difficult early life, but she persevered, and those experiences helped shape the compassionate, resilient woman she would become.
Jeanne moved to New Jersey in her teenage years and later married. Although her marriage did not last, from that union she received her greatest gifts — her sons, Rick and Chris.
Jeanne loved her boys deeply and was determined to raise them with far more love and kindness than she herself had known growing up. Times were not always easy, but together they found strength in one another.
From an early age, Jeanne loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting, having worked in her mother’s fabric store as a child. She enjoyed creating with her hands and found joy in making beautiful things. She also possessed a wonderful sense of humor, undoubtedly nurtured by a lifelong love of Bugs Bunny.
Jeanne considered herself a voice for the hopeless and a defender of the powerless, especially young children and animals.
Though she could be reserved at first, those who took the time to know her discovered a loyal, caring, and deeply thoughtful friend. She had more friends than she realized and was loved far more than she often knew.
Later in life, Jeanne gave her heart to Jesus, and through her faith she found healing from many of the hurts she had carried over the years.
Jeanne is survived by her sons, Rick (Jennifer) and Chris; her beloved granddaughters, Autumn and Maya; her sisters, Rori and Allyson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
In keeping with Jeanne’s wishes, there will be no funeral service, but a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
She will be remembered for her strength, creativity, compassion, quiet humor, and unwavering love for her family. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
