Mr. David William Windsor, 67, of Onancock, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Born May 5, 1959, David was the youngest of four sons born to Virginius Milton “Jinks” Windsor and Marion Lee White Windsor.
Born with that ever-present “Windsor Smile,” David was a well-known character on the Shore. He loved being mischievous and flirting with the ladies.
A proud member of the U.S. Army, he spent a good part of his life recruiting the best and the brave. And there was no better person to recruit the next generation of fighters, as that’s just what David was — a true fighter all the way until the end.
Of course, growing up the youngest of four boys, it’s something he learned fast. He paired up with his brother, Terry. The two were tight as banjo strings, so much so that he named his only son after him.
The Windsor boys found every opportunity to add a little fun to their lives (and a few more gray hairs to Marion). They loved sneaking out but were caught once after going to Corner Bakery. Marion had stopped for a doughnut on the way to work. Genuinely puzzled, the employees asked her, “Why didn’t you get one from the box the boys picked up at 4 a.m.?” The brothers would sneak out and grab the doughnut ends, eat them all, and be back in bed before the rooster crowed.
After high school, David found his calling in the military. He traveled to Germany and lived in West Virginia for over a decade, enjoying all the beauty and bounty that the great outdoors had to offer. He loved fishing, hunting, and just finding peace and quiet in the outdoors. He even earned his forestry degree at Dabney S. Lancaster College.
After retiring, he came home to take care of his best friend and brother, Terry, at the family farm. He was heartbroken when he lost Terry in 2023. The two are united again.
He was a proud father and grandfather. Although his family lived on the other side of Virginia, they were always close to his heart.
David is survived by his pride and joy, his only son, Terry H. Windsor and his wife, Becca, of Eagle Rock; his brothers, Robert Arnold Windsor, of New Church, and Tommy Lee Windsor and his wife, Sallye, of Lewes, Del.; his aunt, Mary Thom Cullen; his nieces and nephews, Robert Lee “Bobby” Windsor (Angelica Marie), Thomas W. Windsor (Allison), Andrew D. Windsor, and Stephanie L. Hansen; his grandchildren, Chase R. Windsor, Toby Ann Windsor, and Ellymae Windsor; his good friends, Phillip Walter Hope and Greg Sappington; and many extended family members.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Jinks and Marion Windsor; his brother, Terry Windsor; and his niece, Amanda Windsor.
Per his wishes, no public service will be held. The family will celebrate his life privately at a later date.
