The situation is fluid this morning in Cape Charles after a pump station malfunctioned Friday, July 3, in Cape Charles near the intersection of Mason and Bay avenues, sending raw sewage into the street.
The town announced on Saturday, July 4, that the 10 a.m. Independence Day parade will continue as normal, but asked that participants not throw candy in the areas where sewage was backed up.
During repairs, residents also were asked not to flush toilets "whenever possible," the town reported.
