A police officer for the town of Chincoteague faces a misdemeanor charge of recklessly handling a firearm.
Noah McGee, 28, of Melfa, a private first class with the Chincoteague Police Department, was charged on June 23 in connection with the May 8 incident.
Chincoteague Police Department Chief Tyler Greenley declined to comment, but said McGee has been employed by the town since 2023.
