Ms. Angela Christine Linton, 61, of Sanford, passed away on Jan. 29, 2026, on Chincoteague Island.
Born on Sept. 23, 1964, in her parents’ home in Sanford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph William JoeBill Linton and Peggy Taylor Linton.
Angie was the most beautiful and fun-loving person in the room, always the life of the party and down for competition of any kind at any moment.
She loved watching football, whether it be the NFL on TV or her grandson, Jayden, playing in the youth league.
She played softball, volleyball, horseshoes, cards, pool, darts, cornhole, basketball — anything really — and excelled at them all. She passed that trait of being a strong athlete and good at everything she tried on to her grandson, Jayden.
She loved music, singing, and dancing and passed that love on to her daughter, Brandy, and her granddaughters, Brianna and Makenzie.
Her grandchildren were her greatest joys in life. They could do no wrong in her eyes and she had the desire to give them the world. Honestly, Angie loved all the children in her life as if they were her own and took care of anyone who needed taking care of. She took care of her goddaughter, Chanel, as a child for many years and loved her dearly in her heart throughout the rest of her life.
If you were hungry, you could count on Angie to feed you, and if you were not hungry you had better eat something anyway. She was an excellent cook, taught by her mom, Peggy.
Nurturing, caring, generous, wild, fun, tough, competitive, and strong are just some of the words that described Angie. She loved being on the water for both work and leisure. She worked as a commercial crabber for many years and was a hard worker and very strong woman in that profession as well. She had several other jobs through life, one being at Holly Farms/Tyson, where many great friendships began.
Angie was born and raised in Sanford but moved to Maryland and Delaware later in her life. She instantly became friends with all of her neighbors and was described as being such a sweet soul.
She was willing to help anyone with anything and loved taking care of the church yard across the street from her house. She had a huge vegetable garden that she tended to and had quite the green thumb, being a plant lover her whole life.
Angie had a close relationship with the Lord for many years and she clung to Him through her illness, knowing that she would be going to be with Him at the end of her time here on Earth. She knew when her time to go was nearing and was ready to meet her Savior and her loved ones in heaven.
Angela is survived by her daughter, Brandy Jo Terrell (Michael), of Chincoteague; her grandchildren, Jayden Merritt and Makenzie Terrell; her goddaughters, Holly Sterling, Chanel West (Darren), and Carmen Sterling; her granddaughters in love, Madison Hudgins and Cameron Merritt; her brothers, Jerry Linton (Heather), Kenny Linton (Helen), and Tony Linton (Harriet); her nieces and nephews, Charity Roper, Tuesday Linton, JJ Linton, Noah Linton, Kobe Linton, Kayly Linton, and Toni Linton; her uncle, James Taylor; her first cousins, Johnny Johnson (Chris), Alan Johnson (Charlene), Connie Ross, Teresa Jones (Jackie), and Miranda Taylor; her very special friends/cousins, Ann Taylor and Donnie Taylor, Laura Mae Trader, Charlene Noble, Maryanne Noble, Abby Sigmon, Lisa Linton, Melody Hinmon, Tony and Kim Thornes, and Lori Gordon; as well as many other cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews and close friends.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brianna Jade Merritt; her aunt, Camilla Dykes; and her precious mother-in-law, Millie Bowen.
